Impressum’s herd of word-nerds is led by our Managing Director, Publisher and Misfit Entrepreneur-enthusiast, Sheree Chambers. She has been the publishing manager for a tertiary education press for 7 years and has over 15 years’ industry experience. Sheree is also an author so she knows the process from both sides of the table. Her favourite book is Pride and Prejudice (with or without zombies) and her favourite words include: perplexed, resplendent, and tenacity.
Zoë Hale is our Business Development Manager, with over 10 years’ experience in the publishing and editing industries. She’s worked in trade publishing, tertiary education, and as a freelance editor. She loves all aspects of the publishing process, from writing and editing to design and production. She believes stories tell us who we are and where we are going. They can both shape and reflect our identities and are therefore an integral part of us, so it makes complete sense that she loves helping authors bring their works to life. Her favourite book is always changing, but right now it’s Normal People by Sally Rooney. Her favourite words include snaffle, ampersand, and flummoxed.
Erin Martine Sessions
Erin Martine Sessions is our Editor-in-Chief with over 10 years’ experience in editing and proofing. She’s also a widely published poet and academic so, much like Sheree, knows the process as both the author and the editor. Her favourite book is, just kidding, she couldn’t possibly choose one. But she is reading lots of Lorca – her favourite poet – at the moment. And she has categories for her favourite words, but she’s currently pretty fond of chutzpah.
Louisa Nicole Drury is our Graphic Designer, Artist and Illustrator. Louisa has been in the design business for around 15 years and her passion is combining clear, functional designs with artistic aesthetics to deliver measurable, commercial results for our authors. Whether constructing unique typography, engaging illustrations or simply good layouts, Louisa is skilled at utilising visuals to convey a message or tell a story. In her spare time, Louisa can be found in front of the easel with paintbrush or pastel in hand, reading a novel like Blackveil by Kristen Britain or playing with (OK, laughing at) her cat. Her favourite word is imagination.
Sarah Tong is one of our Graphic Designers. She’s both a Designer and a traditional Artist, who has been in the design industry for almost a decade. Her design style is minimalist-utilitarian, because there is beauty in form and function, and every part of a design should be measured and intentional. Sarah hand-draws many elements and then brings them into her designs digitally. And despite her tendency towards perfectionism, she endeavours to embrace the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi – beauty in imperfection. Her go-to book is also Austen’s Pride & Prejudice since it’s one that she will re-read over and over and… And her favourite word is petrichor. More for the meaning than the word itself: the earthy scent produced when rain falls onto the dry earth. From the Greek “petra” (stone) and “ichor” (the ethereal blood of the gods in Greek mythology).
